由EPS制成的发泡塑料件显示了优良包装材料的特性。EPS发泡塑是当前最为轻盈的包装材料，具有高强度，缓冲、吸震和极佳的保温，隔热性能。在特殊情况下，还可以大大提高它的表观密度来承受较大载荷。因此它可作为堆积存放较重物品包装材料。
